Best or most favorable; optimum.
When people decide to make a change to their diet often it’s because they want to feel better, so they start making healthier choices. But what is the healthiest diet? Is there such a thing?
You may start to notice a theme across my posts on here, which is a lack of black and white absolute answers to a lot of questions. This is part of why there is so much confusion around nutrition and the “best diets”. It really does depend on the individual, and the study of nutrition features so much nuance. There are so many factors which affect our health, so to isolate cause and effect from single food items is almost impossible. We keep coming back to correlation ≠ causation. Just because one thing is associated with another it doesn’t mean we can say that is the cause.
With that said there are a few basic guidelines which most research tends to agree. The first, you may be able to guess, being eat more vegetables! More fruit too (another post about sugar/fruit will follow). Also eat more whole grains and legumes, and consume less processed foods and refined sugars.
