Hump Day

And I’m feeling it so bit of an extra caffeine kick from a can of monster (team green 💚) to keep me going!

If you do consume a lot of energy drinks then I’d maybe suggest you check your overall caffeine intake, but don’t stress about artificial sweeteners.

As of writing this, there is no strong evidence which show negative effects from consuming artificial sweeteners. Consuming them does not cause an insulin response. In contrast replacing sugary drinks with low calorie options (sweetened with aspartame rather than sucrose) has been shown to be an effective option to help with weight loss by reducing your energy intake.

There were some old animal studies – which may be where the myths stem from. Just remember with those firstly it’s a huge leap to make assertions that the results would translate to humans. Also to achieve the levels they test it’s a humongous number of drinks you’d actually have to consume to even get close to that amount.

Don’t make your dietary decisions from fear and/or bad information. If you like them drink them. If you prefer coffee have that. Or if you’d rather neither then that’s fine too.
