Christmas

Christmas - EJP Nutrition

With Christmas around the corner, queue the plethora of posts around what to eat over the holidays. These might be along the lines of; eat everything, it’s Christmas! Or at the other end of the spectrum; don’t ruin your progress, you must stay *on* plan.

So should you diet at Christmas? For those of you who haven’t seen on my stories I’m starting EIQ Nutrition in January to continue learning more. They’ve given the new intake early access into the student FB group and this came up in the weekly Q&A.

The first part is the phrasing if you’re asking that, or a similar question. *Should* you be doing something. The word should implies obligation, or correctness. Should I stop at a red light in traffic? Not, should I eat a donut.

Do I want to eat a donut? Is eating a donut in line with my current goals? Is there any harm from eating it? With the latter unless you’re allergic to something in it, almost certainly not!

Back to dieting over Christmas, or not. If it’s causing you to stress and worry that’s definitely not a good thing to start with. This has been a long and difficult year for most, if not all of us. Take the time out to celebrate and enjoy Christmas.

If you do over-indulge for one or two days, that really isn’t going to do much to your long term progress if you then get back on track afterwards. Or maybe take a break from dieting and relax at maintenance over the holidays. You can continue to diet throughout too. There’s no right or wrong answer on what you *should* do.

What do you want to do? There’s a nice middle ground where you don’t have to deprive yourself, but don’t have to go crazy either. Maybe try that?
