Whole Health

Another day, another infographic 😅. It’s interesting doing two course concurrently and seeing how each approaches similar areas. Whole health looks at all areas of our makeup.

The Active IQ course (which the image is for) breaks health down into 4 areas with the Biopsychosocial model. You can focus on improving one aspect of your life, but ultimately for optimal health if you neglect another it will have a knock on affect.

Martin MacDonald teaches an expanded version on this on his tour (which I’d 💯 recommend when he’s in your part of the world), and within MNU (lecture slide in the second picture). Again it’s ultimately how multifaceted health is, and that we need a holistic approach to look after *all* areas.

Did you improve your diet, or change up your activity levels but aren’t seeing the results you expected? Maybe your aren’t sleeping enough, or looking after your mental health. How’s your social support or family life? Are you happy at work? Health is more than simply your physiology.

The bottom part of the graphic focuses on stress, partly as it’s something I’m not personally dealing with well right now. Lots of things piling up, as well as unnecessary external triggers. It’s an area I know I should focus on more with mindfulness and working to reframe problems that arise. As with a lot right now managing my stress is a work in progress and ongoing.

Along with the first infograph is a second image with some information on Hypertension. I decided to look at that as it’s something that a lot of people have – but don’t necessarily know, as it often doesn’t show symptoms.

There are numerous health benefits to regular exercise. These go far beyond using exercise as part of any weight loss plan too! Exercising regularly can reduce the risk of developing many health issues, of which hypertension is just one.
